“BIOSIGNALS 2016 Best Paper Award” won in Italy by ULg team led by Montefiore-INTELSIG
As a result of the pioneering work of Dr. Eng. Mohamed Boutaayamou from the Laboratory for Signal and Image Exploitation (INTELSIG) of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (“Institut Montefiore”) of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of Liège (ULg), the paper referenced below, written by an interdisciplinary team from the ULg and presented by Dr. Eng. Mohamed Boutaayamou, has won the BIOSIGNALS 2016 Best Paper Award at

The 9th International Conference on
Bio-inspired Systems and Signal Processing,
held in Rome, Italy, on 21-23 February 2016.

This is an excellent example of a very successful, on-going collaboration between engineers and health professionals (physicians,…) as well as between engineers from two distinct Research Units of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. It is also one example of the excellent work done in biomedical engineering at the ULg with the ultimate goal of improving the health and quality of life of people.

Coincidentally, this conference was held at the same time as the SomnoSafe conference (www.somnosafe.com) held in Brussels, Belgium, under the leadership of Montefiore-INTELSIG and also focused on biomedical engineering, with the ultimate goal of saving human lives.
